After taking office, Wheeler invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in technology companies tied with data centers, as first reported by WUSA-9.
Many citizens are opposed to the data centers, citing newly released data that reveals their negative impacts on waterways and national parks.
However, elected officials favor them for their proposed financial gain, apparently including Wheeler.
Wheeler was elected as Chair in 2019, but has been active on community boards for 19 years.
The chief of staff for Commonwealth Attorney Amy Ashworth told WSUA-9 that the matter was being investigated.
